Commander-in-Chief
A downloadable game
Win the White House. Then figure out how to stay in it.
Commander-in-Chief is a political simulator where you run for President of the United States, and — if the voters cooperate — spend your terms running the country's economy, military, and political forces.
The game will run for five election cycles (2028 to 2044), though the initial build only runs through the first.
Note: this is my first game literally ever, pls give feedback as I want to learn/grow!
Run
Pick a party — or don't. Conservative and Liberal candidates fight a primary against same-party rivals before the general election. Independents get to skip the primary but fight an uphill battle to garner support for electoral college votes.
- 50 states + D.C., each with its own demographics, economy, and political lean. These are built on real-world 2025 demographics and polling
- Debate your opponents across a pool of hundreds of questions and rebuttals
- Spend money, pick strategies, run attack ads
- Closing stump speeches in two hand-picked states: the single biggest swing in the game
- No one hits 270? It goes to the House, one vote per state delegation, and you lobby with whatever funds and favors you have left
- If you lose the election, plan your steps wisely to be prepared for the next election cycle
Govern
48 months. Eight national stats. A cabinet of eleven, chosen from fifty-two candidates who each have their own competence, ambition, and capacity to embarrass you.
- Pass laws through a real whip count — seat math, state alignment, and controversy decide your odds, and bills you can't pass unless you spend the influence to force them
- Set a $1.7 trillion budget across eleven departments, and watch the debt spiral punish you for cheating
- Survive the midterms, which will almost certainly go badly, because they always do
- Keep your campaign promises (or don't) and reap the rewards
- Try not to get impeached
Major Presidential Storylines
Multi-month arcs that unfold across your term. Respond to events as they unfold, and make decisions in branching narrative paths. If handled poorly, some storylines may end your game early...
Crazy Mode
Optional. Turns on a second content pool that slowly descends into aliens, zombies, and a large reptile making landfall near a major coastal city.
